Brakes

Brake repair, pads and rotors

We measure what’s left on your pads and rotors and show you the photos. If they’ve got life in them, we’ll tell you how much, and you won’t pay for brakes you don’t need yet.

Signs it’s time to bring it in

  • Squealing when you brake (often the wear indicator)
  • Grinding or a metal-on-metal scrape
  • The pedal feels soft, spongy or sinks to the floor
  • The car pulls to one side when you stop
  • A shudder through the pedal or steering wheel when braking
  • Brake or ABS warning light on

What we do

  • Brake pads and rotors, front and rear
  • Calipers, hoses and brake lines
  • Brake fluid flush
  • Parking brake adjustment and repair
  • ABS faults and sensors

How pricing works

A written price before we pick up a wrench.

Brake jobs are quoted per axle, parts and labor together, in writing before we start. We’ll tell you if the rotors can be reused and what that saves.

Labor is [LABOR RATE] an hour, charged by the standard time for the job, not the time on the clock. Parts and labor are guaranteed for [WARRANTY MONTHS] months or [WARRANTY MILES] miles.

Brakes: common questions

Do I need new rotors every time I replace the pads?

Not always. We measure the rotors against the manufacturer’s minimum. If they’re within spec and not warped, we’ll say so and leave them.

How long does a brake job take?

One axle of pads and rotors usually takes one to two hours, so many customers wait. Book a morning slot and we’ll aim to have it back by lunch.

My brakes squeal but stop fine. Is it urgent?

Squealing is often the wear indicator telling you the pads are getting low. It isn’t an emergency, but book in soon. Grinding is more urgent, because it can mean metal on metal.
